Valentine’s Day is over. For some of you it’s a bit sad, others of you are rejoicing, and some of you guys may be relieved! Since I was a little slow on the V-day train, I bought our candy late, so we still have jars throughout our house filled with kisses and those little candy-grams. I found a bag at Target that had the old-fashioned ones (now most of them come with the sour blue ones, which just aren’t the same. Tradition people. Tradition! I like to taste my childhood.) I plopped one of those bad boys into my mouth last week, and maybe I just haven’t had candy in awhile, or maybe it’s because I’m always excited to see what it’s going to say, but let’s just say I’m praying that I don’t have a cavity at the rate I’m chowing down on these boys. (You know you’re addicted when you pack a Ziploc bag full of them for your weekend away.) In fact, as I’m writing this very minute they’re all lined up on my computer. Sweet little sayings:
ONE & ONLY
MY GIRL
YOU ROCK
URS 4 EVER
LOVE YOU
As one was melting in my mouth, it hit me. What if the Lord sent me little candy grams throughout the day? Little love phrases to know how much He loves me?
Wait—He already has. No, they’re not written on candy hearts. (Although that’d be pretty sweet! Haha no pun intended…oh man, the cheesiness of it all!) But they’re scattered throughout the Word.
The Word.
God’s word to us.
God’s word that reveals Himself.
God’s word that reveals our sin and our desperate need of a Savior, of Hope.
God’s word that calls us to Himself, to give our lives to Him because He first laid down His life for us.
God’s word that is drenched with promises of who He is, who we are, and how He sees us.
Those little candy hearts on Valentine’s Day reflect His heart for us. All throughout scripture He tells us:
I LOVE YOU
I AM HERE
YOU ARE MINE
FOREVER AND ALWAYS
MY CHILD
MY BRIDE
MY BEAUTY
DELIGHTED IN
REJOICED OVER
WANTED
PURSUED
YOU ARE TREASURED
I AM WITH YOU
I AM IN YOU
I AM FOR YOU
I AM COMING BACK FOR YOU
If you see any candy grams this week, remind yourself of God’s grams to you. You are loved dear one. Abundantly. Fully. Forever.
