Our Salvation

photo-14In the middle of chapters talking about God’s judgment, his wrath, his anger towards Israel–his beloved people who have turned their backs against Him, again– and against the nations who have proudly gone their own way, glimmers this jewel,

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, & I will not be afraid; for the LORD God is my strength & my song, and He has become my salvation.” || Isaiah 12:2

Israel has chosen the path of wickedness, evil and sin. The nations live their lives basically sticking it to God—proudly living with self-sufficiency, thinking they don’t need God whatsoever. Wickedness reigns. Hatred. Injustice.

How many times has God showed them compassion, has had mercy on them? How many times has he patiently dealt with Israel, disciplining them and calling them back to Himself? His anger burns. His wrath is ready to be poured out.

And then, in the midst of this horrific scene, God promises salvation—in Jesus. He has not forgotten His promise and covenant made so many years ago. He is faithful. He is full of grace. Jesus will come, full of the Spirit. The Spirit of wisdom, counsel, might, and understanding. He will save His people. He will bring peace. He will gather His people and draw them near.

Isaiah then sings to the Lord:

“I will give thanks to you, O LORD, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me. Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD God is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:1-2

AMEN!

Beloved, Jesus has saved us. Jesus. We have not saved ourselves. We have not added anything to our salvation—nor can we. Rest child.

And in light of His salvation, we can and are commanded to trust Him. We have no need to fear because He is our strength and our song.

What are you not trusting God with today? What are you trying to do in your own strength? Beloved, He fights for us. Every victory is in Him. He makes a way. He leads us through. Are you trying to fight your own battle? With whatever. Leave it at His feet. Let Him be your strength. Let Him carry your load. Are you doubting a way out, a way to—He leads the way. He parted the Red Sea! He makes streams in the desert. He is able.

He keeps us. Always. He won’t let you go. YOU ARE HIS.

He has turned his anger away from us, and now welcomes us home. Do you live in guilt? In shame? Beloved, Jesus put that shame and guilt to death on the cross. If you are in Him, you have no condemnation. You are free. He doesn’t look down on you sourfully, but smiles down on you, rejoicing in how precious you are to Him.

Let’s sing to Him today, rejoicing in His almighty & all merciful salvation. Have you trusted Him for salvation? Salvation from sin? Salvation to be His?

He is our Deliverer. Our Hero. Our Life-Saver. God is our salvation. Thank you Jesus.
